In 2025, the Sea Girt 5K Race Committee created of The Maryann Apostolou Memorial Scholarship. The $1,000 award is based primarily on the kindness, caring and compassion exemplified by the applicant, as these qualities were epitomized by Mrs. Apostolou, beloved Kindergarten teacher as Sea Girt Elementary School for many years.
The scholarship will be available to any High School Senior who graduated from Sea Girt Elementary School and attended at least 4 years, or is currently a full-time resident of Sea Girt. Student must be planning to attend a 4-year College or University.
